Burning Sky

Often in Colorado, the skies are bright red, purple, yellow and blue and every time that happens, I am left overwhelmed by the beauty of something so simple and constant. Every evening, all over the world, people witness the sun set and even though it is the same sun and we are on the same planet, we each experience it in our own way. The sun setting is one way we are all connected, we are all equally blessed to see it rise and set with beauty, and while we share it’s beauty, it is still something very personal. I have attempted to capture one sun set in the way I’ve experienced it.
I set out to create an image that used the full spectrum of color and I wanted to try and keep it balanced vertically. As I was working through this piece, I realized that often the horizon is never perfectly level and by shifting it slightly, it added an elemtent of intrigue and interest. Additionally, as our modern world continues to grow smaller, rarely do you see a sky without contrails and so I thought it an appropriate reflection on the skies of today.

During the day I'm around but may be in meetings, working on a new painting, or just not available. If I don't answer, I'll get back to you as soon as I can.
